Nicola Cosgrove

Co-creator & Lawyer

Nic holds an EMBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, a double Bachelor of Arts and Laws from the University of Wollongong and a Master of Laws from the University of New South Wales, she also teaches at the Law Faculty of her alma mater.

Nic co-founded and runs Lext Australia, an Australian legal technology start-up, under which Hearsay thrives. Prior to co-founding Lext, Nic also co-founded the boutique financial services law firm Assured Legal Solutions in Sydney’s CBD.

When Nic isn’t teaching, studying, lawyering and strategising she’s spending time with her young family. She also enjoys eating chocolate, reading, and, you guessed it, listening to podcasts.

David Turner

Host

David Turner has a gift for teasing out people’s stories, so it’s no wonder he is Hearsay’s host.

When he isn’t interviewing people on Hearsay, David is the co-founder and Head of Operations at Lext Australia, an Australian legal technology start-up (and Hearsay’s parent company). Prior to founding Lext, he practised as a barrister at the NSW Bar, and as a solicitor in law firms large and small.  David is a former President of NSW Young Lawyers and a former Councillor of the Law Society of NSW.  In addition to his LLB, David has completed his MBA at UNSW’s Graduate School of Management.

David spends the little downtime that he has left tinkering on home improvement projects and working on computer programming projects.

Ross Davis - Producer & Lawyer

Ross Davis

Producer & Lawyer

Ross Davis has an unhealthy obsession with following the latest in legal news and a nose for producing engaging content. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology, Government, and International Relations) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Sydney.

A reformed litigator, prior to Hearsay he worked in a knowledge role in Mergers and Acquisitions at a top-tier Australian firm and as a legal writer at one of the world’s largest legal publishers.

Away from Hearsay, Ross is a tennis tragic and a keen (sometimes barefoot) runner and can often be found hitting the pavement to the sounds of tunes and podcasts in Sydney and its surrounds.

Jacob Malby - Legal Researcher

Jacob Malby

Legal Researcher

Jacob Malby works as Hearsay’s legal researcher and is the resident tech guy (“have you tried turning it off then on again?”). He is also studying a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Communications and Media at the University of Wollongong.

Jacob has a keen interest in creating audio and video content. He enjoys working with technology, whether it be developing software, programming robots or editing photos and videos. He also loves learning and discussing both the law and its relationship with politics.

Jacob’s hobbies include playing soccer, watching soccer and playing soccer video games (so, a diverse range of interests…). He also loves to listen to comedy podcasts while he’s driving.

Josh Bicknell

Head of Sales

Josh Bicknell is a seasoned veteran in the legal tech industry, boasting over 13 years of experience across both Australian and UK landscapes. With a keen eye for staying ahead of the curve, Josh thrives on unraveling the intricacies of the latest tech trends within law.

As the Head of Sales, Josh spearheads strategic initiatives, fostering meaningful partnerships and driving customer-centric solutions, ensuring that the innovative edge of Hearsay translates seamlessly into valuable experiences for clients and partners alike.

Outside of Hearsay, Josh is an avid enthusiast of an active lifestyle. Always up for an adventurous escapade, he finds joy in pushing boundaries and embracing new challenges. A fun fact about Josh adds a touch of maritime glory to his profile—he was part of the crew that came runner-up in the 2019 Sydney to Hobart yacht race.

Sophie Yeh

Sales Consultant

Sophie Yeh is Hearsay’s Sales Consultant and helps with everything sales and marketing related. She is studying a Bachelor of Commerce/Law with a major in Marketing at the University of New South Wales, making her the team’s go-to person for making everything look immaculate.

Sophie is particularly enthusiastic about product growth and business development, and is forever thinking of ways to improve the Hearsay experience for our users. An advocate for legal accessibility, she holds a firm belief that in order to be just, the law needs to be accessible for all.

In her downtime, Sophie can be found with her nose in a good book, playing video games or making ceramics. Otherwise, if she’s not reading a book, she’s listening to one!
